Classic Ferrari Restoration Shop Considerations

Every Ferrari restoration project is unique. Some can be more challenging than others. The condition and service history of your vehicle can have a significant impact on the time and cost of restoration.

Several factors can influence your Ferrari restoration costs and budget:

  • the year, model, and condition of your Ferrari
  • your restoration goals (customize, sell, show, exhibition, etc.)
  • availability of replacement parts vs. fabrication needs

Market Value Factors

Our team understands that a car’s market value is a factor in any restoration project. For example, restoration of mid-1980s Ferrari 308 or 314 in fair condition might be equal to or higher than a car’s current market value.  This can also be true for models like a 1983 Mondial and even some Dinos from the early 1970s – depending on the specific trim and configuration.

A model like the Ferrari 512 Boxer may require similar levels of repair. However, because these models often have a higher market value, owners find it easier to make the investment in a restoration of the quality we provide.

Rare and vintage Ferraris like the 250 California, 1950s F1, Testarossa, and others like early Ferrari race cars are often restored for private collections, auctions, or museum placements. Even though their age and condition can result in higher restoration costs, a concourse quality restoration can increase the car’s overall value and desirability.

We also understand that market value is not the only factor. We’ve met a lot of Ferrari owners through the years and know that other factors are also important. Those range from reclaiming a piece of family history to a deep appreciation for the classic art form these iconic performance vehicles represent. Our team is ready and able to help you accomplish all the goals you have for your Ferrari auto body and paint restoration project.

Paint and Customization

Paint and customizations are among the most common examples of non-stock restoration project goals. We use the best paint materials available on the market. Most restoration projects include matching the original Ferrari’s factory color. However, if that’s not in keeping with your goals, we’ll use the same quality paint products but work to find the color that best suits the way you’d like your car to look.

If you’re looking for a different take on your classic Ferrari, we also do custom restoration modification (restomod) work. We’ve got the skills to find or fabricate parts that will bring your vision to life – from bumpers to fenders, headlights to custom paint, and almost anything in between. Be sure and call us today so we can start planning your classic restomod.

Estimates for Ferrari Restoration Costs

Please call our shop at 919-552-0333 between 9am and 5pm eastern time to schedule an appointment for us to look at your car.

During your visit, we’ll make a detailed assessment of your car based on what we can see without going through the disassembly process. We’ll estimate the effort related to:

  • auto body repair and replacement (dents, scratches, prior repair, etc.),
  • exterior and interior trim condition and replacement, and
  • engine and drivetrain condition.

We’ll send you an estimate that shows our best educated assessment about the parts and labor your Ferrari auto body and paint restoration project will require. Throughout the restoration process, we’ll keep you informed about what we find and the options you have for how to handle anything unexpected.

If the car’s market value is the most significant factor in your decision on any Ferrari restoration, you should let us know early in the estimating process. We will help you decide what restoration level would be most in line with your budget and expectations.

Ferrari Restoration Levels

There are many reasons to restore your classic performance sports car. Even though money is always a factor, sometimes a Ferrari has sentimental value that’s more important. We offer different restoration options for your Ferrari auto body and paint restoration that include:
